A Guide to Scuba Diving Equipment
If you buy the important scuba diving equipment then you can have a great scuba diving experience especially if it is your first time to do so. If you are scuba diving for the first time, then you will be needing these essential equipment.
A scuba diving mask is the first equipment that you need. The type of mask you choose is one that fits well and contours to brows and cheekbones. You can choose from a wide selection of designs. Since you are not trying it underwater, make sure that you simply put the mask on your face without strapping around your head. If you try your face mask see to it that there are no gaps and that air does not get inside if you try to inhale through your nose.
Another equipment is the snorkel. There are many snorkel designs that you can choose from. The snorkel mouthpiece should fit your mouth well. The snorkel should attach well to your mask. It is important to determine the size of the snorkel. If you use a large snorkel you will feel its drag in the water but if you use a small snorkel it will not hold much air for underwater use.
Flippers or fins are next on the list. When you buy flippers, the experience is just like buying shoes. You should feel comfortable wearing your flippers. If your thigh muscles are strong then you can use a larger fin. If the fins are too big for you then you can have muscle fatigue over time and you cannot dive as long.
You can keep your body heat while you dive by wearing a wetsuit. The material used for wetsuits is either neoprene rubber or spandex and it can keep the cold out of your body. A well fitting wetsuit is important to keep the water out. Getting wet would mean your body heat will transfer into the water. Make sure the wrists, ankle, and collars have seals to prevent water from entering. A proper seal is also created by flaps behind zippers. If you find wetsuits expensive, then you can find used gear shops where you can get a great bargain.
If you are going scuba diving, then you will need life support equipment. A vest called BC is important to hold your tank and help you float to the surface with their buoyant pieces of foam. You can change weight in the vest for sinking or rising to surface through the valves on the BC. You can find this expensive but you only buy it once since it can last for years.
it is also important to have a regulator. This converts pressurized air in your tank into air that you can breathe.
If you want to be able to identify your equipment when there are many people on the boat with you, then you need scuba diving tags. A scuba luggage tag can identify your equipment when there is a large group with you.
